Blessed is the debut semiautobiographical album from Joey Gzus...

Starting with small roots in the Northern town of Doncaster, Joey Gzus has been relentless in getting his music heard with support shows for Jessie J, N-Dubz & Example to name just a few, Radio 1 appearances, thirty-twos with Mike Skinner and The Streets on their most recent mixtape, sixteens with UK Hip Hop royalty Wordsmiff & Verb-T, with more visuals than your set top box and limited edition blue vinyl on Roots Manuva's mighty Banana Klan imprint, you can hardly turn your nose up at this young mans work ethic.

What we are presented with is a visual log designed to show you the in and out workings of the MC on his day to day music grind. The theme of the album "Blessed" is a little more real to life than what we have previously heard from Joey. As an artist that has based himself around mixtapes, this is officially a step up the ladder in terms of sourcing original production, quality control and inevitably the target audience.

Joey intends to create a close relationship with the listener with this first album giving the Northern MC a chance to fully express himself across a concentrated snap shot of life, emotion and expression. One of the things that draws you to this album is you get a feeling from "Blessed" which you may not come across very often, which is that you're actually listening to an "album" rather than a collection of tracks. This is something Joey has obviously took the time out to do.

With a tailored fitting, "Blessed" features production from Ido, Wizard and Kelakovski of EatGood Records. The purpose of the 'Vlog' is evident with the soundtrack being something to note as the vocal of Emma Louise (http://www.avenuemag.co.uk/2012/01/power-of-a-woman-emma-louise/) who sets a scene for the MC who we don't yet get to hear as far as Episode one rotates.

Joey is already working on the follow up album "Parousia" which will be solely produced by UK Hip Hop 'beat-smith' Ido. Until then, there is plenty more to come to keep the appetite moist in terms of audio and visuals. Staying tuned is my advice!
